The Holmdel Resident's Guide to a Summer Week at Bell Works
You already know Bell Works exists. You drive past 101 Crawfords Corner Road most weeks, you have taken out-of-town family to see the atrium at least once, and you have a favorite parking lot. What most Holmdel residents do not have is the weekly rhythm memorized. That is the difference between visiting Bell Works and actually using it.
The building runs on a predictable cadence in July. Wednesdays belong to the Fresh Market. Thursdays and Saturdays belong to the Roof Deck. Bell Theater picks up the weekend evenings. If you learn the pattern, you can stop checking the calendar every time and start dropping in on autopilot.
The atrium is a quarter-mile long and climate-controlled, which is why the Bell Works programming leans on it hard during heat waves and empties out onto the Roof Deck when the evenings cool. Mornings tilt toward fitness and family. Afternoons tilt toward shopping and coffee. Evenings tilt toward Bar Bella and Mabel.
Once you see it that way, the calendar stops feeling like a random list of events. It starts feeling like a schedule you can fit around a workday, a kid pickup, or a Saturday morning that got away from you.

That is a lot of programming for a former research campus, and most of it is free to walk into.
Two spaces do most of the work in the summer, and they serve different moods.
The Roof Deck is the outdoor half. Bar Bella runs it Wednesday through Saturday, 4pm to 10pm, with a daily happy hour from 4 to 6pm that takes $3 off classic cocktails, signature cocktails, wine, and craft beer. When Sundown Sessions are on, the live music is here. So is Sunset Yoga at Mabel and, on the right nights, string lights and a World Cup broadcast through July 19 as part of the venue's Summer of Soccer.
The Main Atrium is the indoor half, and it functions differently. It is where the Fresh Market sets up on Wednesdays, where the Holmdel Library runs children's programming, and where the flow through Booskerdoo Coffee, Jersey Freeze, and the rest of The Block happens. If it is 94 degrees on a Wednesday, the atrium is the correct call. If it is a soft evening in the low 70s, the Roof Deck is.
Residents who use Bell Works well learn to make that decision at the door instead of before they leave the house.
Mabel is worth understanding on its own. It opened as the first full-service sit-down restaurant at Bell Works, run by Laura Brahn and Grace Crossman, the same team behind Cardinal Provisions in Asbury Park. The room seats about 100, has a full bar, a lounge, and a patio, and the name honors Mabel Gardiner Bell, an amateur horticulturalist and Alexander Graham Bell's wife.
For Holmdel residents, the practical read is that Mabel is not a food-court option. It is a reservations restaurant with a coastal European lean and a cocktail list that treats classics as the starting point. It also anchors the Roof Deck's evening events. When Sunset Yoga wraps at 7pm on a Saturday, the same building has a full dinner service running one floor down. That is a specific convenience that most Monmouth County dinner-out plans do not offer.
The 285-seat Bell Theater has been open two years and is still underused by residents who assume the venue is only for corporate events or the annual Monmouth Film Festival, which ran May 29–31 this year and drew a Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas screening among its slate.
July's Bell Theater programming is more approachable than that reputation suggests. The Axelrod Performing Arts Academy production of Mean Girls: The Musical on July 17 and 18 is family-facing. The Midtown Men show on July 30 is a Broadway-and-oldies revue. Neither requires the kind of trip planning a New York show does. Both start about fifteen minutes from most Holmdel driveways.
A few line items on the calendar tend to get missed by people who otherwise know Bell Works well.
Monday pickleball. Jersey Pickleball Club's Monday clinic is free with registration and runs on The Turf. If you have been meaning to try the sport, the barrier to entry is a Google form.
Wednesday library storytime. The Holmdel Library's programming at Bell Works, like the Peas and Carrots session on July 22, is designed for the 11am toddler window. Parents who already go to the Fresh Market can double up without leaving the atrium.
Yappy Hour. Bar Bella runs a dog-friendly hour on its posted schedule. If you walk a dog in the neighborhoods off Crawfords Corner Road, this is a reason to end the walk here.
The June 30 fireworks and the after-party. This one has already passed for the year, with fireworks planned for around 9:15pm and a Roof Deck after-party running until midnight. Worth putting on next year's calendar now, because parking behavior in the purple and blue lots gets ugly if you show up at 8:45.
If you want a default plan instead of a menu, this is a workable one.
